Akita
Compact prefectural-capital nightlife; low export of district names.
Akita City concentrates most of the prefecture’s late commercial density. Like much of Tohoku outside Sendai and Sapporo’s orbit, Akita illustrates the default Japanese pattern: a walkable downtown night cluster for a regional capital, without the media afterlife that turns a place-name into national slang. Kawabata is the place-name that local night talk usually means.
Public names
Place-names that appear in news, comedy, and ordinary speech — not a list of venues.
